A stellar field will line up for round two of the Think Money Super Sedan Championship Series at Ausdeck Patios Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night (October 15), with more than 20 drivers set to do battle. Included in the field are several of Australia’s most accomplished drivers who have collectively accumulated eight national championship wins, 32 state title victories, eight wins in the National Super Sedan Series and innumerable wins and podium results in blue ribbon events across the country.

Presented by Brims Concrete and Sweet Chassis, the second round of competition in the Think Money Championship Series is the first of six Super Sedan events scheduled for Archerfield this season and is shaping as an epic showdown. Hot on the heels of his win in the opening round at Bundaberg, Mark Pagel will find himself under pressure to maintain his series lead. Leading the challenge will be Bundaberg runner-up Matt Pascoe who, as one of the few drivers to make forward progress in the difficult Bundaberg track conditions, will relish the opportunities for multi-lane racing that the Archerfield circuit invariably offers.  Black Sean 3

Having filled the top five behind Pagel and Pascoe in Bundaberg, David O’Keefe, Craig Shaw and Steve Jordan are in the field and no doubt feeling confident of again featuring near the front of the field. However, the return of Darren Kane, Wayne Randall and defending series champion Sean Black, the addition of Victorian legend Mick Nicola and the presence of proven race winners such as Ian Brims and Gary Pagel sets the scene for a terrific night of tin top competition.

The most successful Super Sedan driver of the last 10 years, Kane has been dabbling in Sprintcar competition in recent weeks but returns home this Saturday just to remind fans and fellow competitors of his considerable talents. Nicola is one of only three drivers to have won the Australian Super Sedan Championship on three occasions, while Black’s SSA championship win last season has firmly established him amongst the category elite. Randall, of course, is a category stalwart who has been at the forefront of Super Sedan competition for more than 30 years, has completed more laps of the Archerfield track than anybody else in the field and remains one of the most competitive drivers in the sport.

In addition to the established stars, Super Sedans are currently blessed with the best batch of young drivers for many seasons, with the likes of Sam Roza, Craig Craft and Nicholas O’Keefe looking to follow in Black’s footsteps in their rise through the ranks. Also in the field for the Archerfield showdown are Tim O’Shea, Jack Childs, Bob McCosker, Rodney Craft, Tony Brinkmann, Barry Craft, Travis Barron, Dempsie Pails and newcomer Nick Sampson.

Each driver will contest two preliminary heats to accumulate points that will determine the qualifying order for the 30-lap feature race before the top eight pointscorers take part in the Penrite Grid Draw to finalise the starting positions on the first four rows of the grid.
