Less Than 24 Hours to Commencement of National Production Sedan Title at Gympie
Pam Franz…23/04/2014
In less than 24 hours now the long wait for the first ever National Production Sedan Title will get underway at Gympie’s Mothar Mountain Speedway. Situated less than 170klm north of Brisbane, Gympie Speedway is the heartland of Sedan racing in Queensland being a stronghold of Sedan drivers for many years.
50 drivers from all parts of Australia are making their way to Gympie – Western Australia is well represented with A1 Matt Noakes in his Sigma looking to defend his Title won last year at Collie Speedway in WA, Michael Hamon a hard charger in a VY Commodore and Glenn Hoskins in a Torana.
South Australia and Victoria both have a lone entrant in Adam Wilson competing in an AU Falcon and hard charging Stephen Laidlaw in a Commodore respectively. Laidlaw made the trip north to Qld in February to compete at the Qld State Production Title so he knows how hard the competition of the local contingent is.
New South Wales is well represented with 5 drivers – Paul Whyte in a BA Falcon, Matt Hutchison in a EL Falcon, Wayne Bourke in a VZ Commodore, Bradley Hutchison in a EL Falcon and Mark Quirk in his VN Commodore. The Hutchison brothers and Quirk are regular visitors to the sunshine state and are eager to get back to take part in some strong competition.
