Three of the Best from Sth Aus for NSSS

10/11/10…NASR National Office

Over the last few seasons, Super Sedan racing has been making a steady climb back to prominence in South Australia, due largely to the outstanding support and faith in the category by John Dawson that has seen the establishment of the JD Couriers Super Sedan Series and the rebirth of the Fireball Derby at Speedway City. Of course, the performances of South Australian competitors in blue ribbon events around the country – such as the Carline National Super Sedan Series in particular – has also played a significant role in the renewed interest in the category within the state, from competitors, spectators and track operators alike.

The Australian Super Sedan Championship staged in Adelaide last season was also a huge success, with local ace Dave Gartner falling agonizingly short in his quest for victory and ultimately finishing in second spot. Of course, last season also saw Gartner finish third overall in the Carline Mufflers National Super Sedan Series and he again leads the South Aussie challenge for the 2010/2011 Carline Championship.

Three drivers will represent South Australia in the series this year, with Gartner being joined on tour once again by Bill Miller and Shane Best. Both Gartner and Miller have been a part of the Carline NSSS from the outset and have contested every round staged thus far, while Best is in sensational form at the moment with wins in the opening two rounds of the JD Couriers series.  Unlike the rest of the drivers taking part in the series, Miller and Best are doing it ‘old-school’ and will be piloting self-constructed chassis’ into battle.  Whilst they may have the smallest contingent amongst the contracted driver line-up, this South Aussie trio are more than capable of challenging for the championship and becoming the first state to halt the Queensland dominance.

With less than 7 weeks to go until Australia’s premier speedway sedan competition gets underway, bring it on!
