Biggest Victorian Squad Ever for NSSS

The contracted driver line-up for the 2010/2011 Carline Mufflers National Super Sedan Series so far includes 23 drivers from across Australia who have confirmed their place in the field for the 9 rounds of competition.  The field includes a strong mix of distinguished champions, experienced campaigners and exciting newcomers, with Western Australia the only state not represented.

Victoria has played a significant role in the success of the series since it began six seasons ago, with the first ever NSSS event staged at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway.  Despite the important role Victoria has played in the history of the series and the outstanding contribution some Victorian drivers have made in the success of the series, competitors in the state have been slower to embrace the series than their rivals in other regions. 

However, all that is about to change with four Victorian drivers having confirmed their participation in the 2010/2011 Carline Championship, the largest contingent ever. Three-time national titleholder Michael Nicola again leads the Victorian challenge, with Ashley Bergmeier also returning for another shot at the title.  Nicola and Bergmeier have been staples of the NSSS championship in recent seasons and their continued support is great news for race fans across the country.

Rejoining the NSSS tour this year is four-time Victorian champion and perennial VSSA frontrunner Lucas Roberts, while David MacKenzie will be contesting the full series schedule for the first time.  The inclusion of Roberts and MacKenzie will add a further dimension to competition amongst chassis manufacturers as both drivers will be piloting Insane chassis’ in their championship campaigns.
