06/10/07…NASR/ASCF Media Release

New South Wales veteran Paddy Ward has a wealth of experience and a long history of traversing Australia to participate in major Super Sedan events around the country. Having enjoyed a long and illustrious career in the Super Sedan ranks, it is perhaps fitting that the last few seasons have seen Ward re-affirm his status as one of Australia’s leading tin top exponents. In addition to securing the respect of a new generation of Super Sedan stars, Ward’s recent results have also ensured a place amongst the contracted driver line-up for the 2007/2008 National Super Sedan Series.

As a long serving ambassador for country New South Wales at blue ribbon events and major championship races, Ward relishes any opportunity to outpace and upstage his higher profile rivals, as he did last season in taking out the Victorian Championship at Rushworth Speedway ahead of three-time national champ Michael Nicola.  Other standout performances, among many, include runner-up results in the New South Wales Super Sedan Championship at Parramatta City Raceway and the prestigious Apple Isle Grand Prix at Latrobe Speedway in Tasmania.

Ward has been the dominant performer in the New South Wales Super Sedan Series since its inception with a string of outstanding performances at regional and metropolitan venues across the state. The 2004/2005 season saw Ward finish third overall in the series, highlighted by a dominant performance in round four that included two heat wins before blitzing the field in the feature event. The following season saw Ward emerge as the series champion following two feature race wins at Parramatta City Raceway and podium results at Gunnedah and Gilgandra. Last year, Ward was again the standout competitor and successfully defended his crown, despite the increasingly competitive field that takes part in this series.

Given his credentials, Ward has been a part of the National Super Sedan Series from the outset. During the inaugural series, he finished inside the top ten on three occasions, clocked the fastest lap during round five at Brisbane International Speedway and ultimately finished ninth overall in the series standings.  Last season’s NSSS campaign brought even better results with Ward again finishing inside the top ten on three occasions – including a sensational runner-up result at Moama’s Heartland Raceway – on his way to finishing eighth overall in the championship.

With more than 20 years experience in Super Sedan competition and currently enjoying some of the best form of his career, Speedway Sedans Australia (ASCF) and the National Association of Speedway Racing (NASR) are very pleased to confirm Victorian Super Sedan champion Paddy Ward as a contracted driver in the 2007/2008 National Super Sedan Series.  Other drivers confirmed for the 2007/2008 series include Wayne Randall, Michael Gee, Brad Smith and Dave Gartner, with further announcements to follow in the weeks ahead.  For the latest news and series information, visit the official series website at www.nationalsupersedanseries.com
