Trust a Speedway to Bring the Rain
Trust a Speedway to Bring the Rain…22/10/06…Pam Franz
Many weeks and in some cases months of dry weather can always be bought to an end by the holding of an outdoor event – especially speedway. Many hours leading up to a race meeting are spent watering a track however the water truck from the sky can ruin a race meeting quicker than I can write this story.
Gympie’s Mothar Mountain was set for great nights racing but the weather had other ideas, as the afternoon progressed the sky to the south-west gradually changed to a storm like appearance. The race meeting got underway with the hope that the rain would skirt around but whilst Event 9 was being run the heavens opened up bringing a sudden stop to the race meeting. Eventually after a little while it was obvious that the rain was not going to cease anytime soon the race meeting was abandoned by the Gympie Saloon Car Club Executive Committee.
Racing returns to Mothar Mountain on 11th November, 2006.
