The Ian Boettcher Volkswagen Super Sedan Championship Series heads north this weekend, with round four to be decided at Rockhampton Speedway on Saturday night (October 18).  The biggest and most diverse field so far this season will be in attendance, with some North Queensland-based drivers joining the series regulars and the local stars for the event.
Headlining the field is defending series champ and current points leader Wayne Brims who will be looking for his third feature win for the season.  Aboard a new Pontiac Grand Prix, the New South Welshman was sensational during the previous round in Brisbane last weekend, finishing the night undefeated and with a new lap record.
Gold Coast charger Jamie McHugh – the only other driver to win a series round so far this season – is also trekking north from his Gold Coast base for the Rockhampton event and will be determined to upstage Brims and reclaim the lead in the championship chase.  Meanwhile, Brisbane’s Steve Pearce will be looking to use this event to significantly improve his position in the series standings.  Pearce currently sits sixth overall, but the absence of the third, fourth and fifth placed competitors provides a great opportunity for Pearce to move inside the top three.

Making his season debut is current National Super Sedan Series champion Wayne Randall, who will be driving for local team owner Bill Rowe. Randall has always been quick around the Rockhampton circuit and must be considered a very strong contender despite his lack of racing so far this season.  Also amongst the nominations are the Cairns-based duo of Wesley Hose and Damien Bugler – who is piloting the Dodge campaigned with great success last season by Steve Jordan – along with Bundaberg’s Bevan Collins and Mackay’s Des Korn, who is fresh from a 3rd-place finish last weekend.
As always in Rockhampton, a strong local contingent will be on hand to take on the visitors, with Leigh Williams and Will Gould leading the charge.  Other locals in the field include Gordon Shaw, Digger McCallum, Craig Torr, Stacey Lee and Jody Barnicoat.

Racing gets underway at 6.00pm.
