Saturday night 15th July heralded another successful Trophy Presentation Dinner for the Sunshine Coast Speedway Club. 80 plus members and guests enjoyed a sumptious meal provided and managed to catch up on friends activities of the past 3 weeks since racing paused for the ‘off season’. Club trophies are awarded to members from points gained at each race meeting throughout the season. Some divisions were hotly contested. Some special awards were given during the night. As a first an Award for the Drivers Driver was voted on by fellow drivers during the evening based on the previous seasons achievements, sportsmanship and fellowship – the inaugural winner of this award was BRENDAN GILLAN. Brendan competes in a TF Cortina in Street Sedans Div 11, travels from Ipswich every weekend to race and always with a well presented car. Not only does Brendan race but also his children Ben and Stephanie Rossow try their darndest to keep Brendan busy during the night keeping the car on the track for 3 races every round of heats.
