Results of Modified Production Title…26/06/06…Pam Franz

Finally the 2006 Modified Production Title has been run and won. On Saturday the weather looked far from perfect and in fact around 11.30 there was a substantial shower of rain pass over the speedway complex. This sent everyone scurrying for shelter but fortunately it was the only shower to come our way. This shower delayed the track preparation and consequently the race meeting did not start at the scheduled 3pm. Modified Productions raced there first heat at approximately 4pm and before the 4 heats in the first round could be completed it was necessary to call a halt to the racing whilst the sun dropped behind the horizon. Racing once again got underway.

From the first heat Todd Doyle in the Tracwell VY Commodore showed he was on a mission, starting at the back of the field and making his way forward progressively to gain the lead with 2 laps to spare. Todd scored 2 more heat wins and a 3rd placing to start in pole position for the final. Todd lead the field away and never looked in doubt as to whether he would win – just by how much. Several stoppages throughout the race bought Todd back to the pack but once the light was green he put a gap on the rest of the pack.

Wayne Miles (Milo) in the Auscott Labour Hire BA Falcon had a mixed night, two heat wins put him up the front of the final, starting out of position 5. Milo kept in touch with the front running cars all the way and was able to finish a strong second place at the end of the 40 laps.

Steve Price driving the AU Falcon owned by Rodney Midolo put on an impressive display of driving ability. This car is less than 3 months old and was purpose built to race as a Super Street Sedan, finishing 7th in that state title at easter on its maiden race meeting with Rodney Midolo at the wheel. A second place and 2 third places in the heats gave Steve a mid field start in the 40 lapper. Although Doyle and Miles managed to put a gap on Price, Price at no stage looked down and out. As the race ran its duration Steve kept putting near perfect laps down and was in 3rd place when the chequered flag was waved.
