Miller Confirmed for National Campaign… 22/10/06…NASR/SSA Media Release

Behind the wheel of one of the most distinctive and recognisable racecars in Australian speedway, Bill Miller has been a driving force amongst South Australia’s Super Sedan ranks for many years.  Even those who don’t know about the multitude of feature race wins he has accumulated are often very familiar with the trusty pink Pontiac that has carried him to such success.  In addition to his on-track endeavours, Miller has earned himself a reputation as a passionate advocate for the category as a sponsor and across a variety of administrative roles.  Given his record of success and high regard within the speedway community, series organisers are very pleased to confirm that Bill Miller is the ninth competitor to be confirmed as a contracted driver with the 2006/2007 National Super Sedan Series.

Whilst Miller’s high profile can be partly attributed to the unique colour scheme, perhaps it is more likely the result of the fact that he habitually finishes near the front of the field whenever a Super Sedan event is staged in South Australia.  If not making one of his regular visits to victory lane, you can be sure that Miller will be somewhere on the podium or lurking ominously in pursuit of the leaders when the chequer falls.

Since making the transition from Formula 500’s to Super Sedans via a stint in the Speedcar ranks, Miller’s dominance of the South Australian scene has included an unprecedented seven consecutive wins in the local Club Championship.  On three occasions Miller has finished on the podium in the South Australian Super Sedan Championship, finishing runner-up in the 1998/1999 title staged over two rounds at Renmark and Waikerie.  The 2001/2002 season saw Miller finish in third spot at Broken Hill, a feat he repeated the following year in a return visit to Waikerie’s Sunline Speedway.

Miller’s success certainly hasn’t been restricted to the local scene though as the 1999/2000 season saw him snare a fine third-place finish in the Australian Super Sedan Championship in Hobart. As recently as the 2004/2005 season, Miller slipped across the border to finish third in the Victorian Championship at Mildura’s Timmis Speedway.

Miller as never been afraid to traverse Australia in search of the best competition at the biggest events and, despite not possessing the budget enjoyed by so many of his rivals, he jumped aboard the inaugural National Super Sedan Series last season. Whilst plagued by a series of setbacks including extensive chassis damage during round four in Toowoomba and multiple engine failures, Miller soldiered on and ultimately finished tenth overall in a further demonstration of is talent, commitment and resolve.

Speedway Sedans Australia (ASCF) and the National Association of Speedway Racing (NASR) are very pleased to confirm Bill Miller as a contracted driver in the 2006/2007 National Super Sedan Series.  Other drivers already confirmed for the series include:  Wayne Randall, John Leslight, Brad Smith, Michael Gee, Dave Gartner, Lucas Roberts, Steve Vaughan, Paddy Ward
