For those interested the results from the Maryborough 1000 for Street Sedans held last night have been uploaded to mylaps.com.  http://qsca.mylaps.com.au for a direct link to the QSCA folder of results.

This inaugural 50 Lap race was well supported with 52 cars turning up to race.  Eventual winners after 50 gruelling laps were Tim Atkin Q1, Jim Cowley SC61 and Murray Dioth CR18.  24 cars started the 50 lap event.  Brett Baxter G5 was the highest point scoring driver and on a random draw inverted the Top 6 placings – meaning the 6th highest qualifier started from Pole, 5th highest qualifier started from position 2 etc.  Baxter then accepted the promotions challenge and collected a bonus amount $250 to choose to start from position 24.  Unfortunately for Baxter he endured a flat tyre quite early in the race and was unable to continue.  Numerous cars along the way fell victim to damage which saw them sitting the rest of the race out on the infield.  On Lap 25 Jessica Raymont, Kerryn Goodwin and Wayne Laverty were all involved in the same incident which saw the 3 cars retire to the infield.  Craig Franz SC35 continued to challenge Atkin the eventual winner right up to Lap 47 when Franz misjudged the distance between the two cars and Atkin who was struggling to keep his lead at this time was spun round by Franz.  Franz was ROF at the restart and when the race completed just 3 laps later was officially in 7th place.

The Maryborough Sportng Car Club were pleased with the nights racing and look forward to holding this event again in the 2008/09 season.
