Last night the South Burnett Speedway Club hosted a brilliant nights racing featuring a Blue Ribbon Event for Modified Production Sedans.  Although a few less drivers raced than expected this was not surprising considering that just 6 days previously they were all competing at Maryborough for the Australian Title.

Eventually winner was Qld Champion Aidan Raymont followed by Nathan MacDonald and Stephen Geritz and Troy Ware coming home strongly in 4th.  Gavin Fletcher qualified in pole position and chose to start from that position and not accept the ‘Back of Bus’ challenge and the $400 on offer, unfortunately for Gavin a flat tyre precluded him from the final result.

Congratulations to the South Burnett Speedway club who have completed a magnificent improvement to the facility with approximately 50 metres of new concrete wall sporting an impressive 3 metre catch fence.  Behind the new section is a metre wide fenced earth bank to ensure spectators can not be too close to the on track action.  Previously this section of fence seemed to have been visited frequently by many but last night did not attract any cars – this must mean competitors will be looking forward to the rest of the fence being replaced also.

Other improvements to the speedway facility include the widening of the racing surface by claiming a little more from the infield to be included in the race track.  Certainly provided for 2 and 3 wide racing at times.
