Brims Back for National Attack

19/10/07…NASR/ASCF Media Release

Last season, Wayne Brims may well have been the busiest Super Sedan driver in Australia.  The unassuming second-generation steerer from Tweed Heads made a huge commitment throughout 2006/2007, taking on the National Super Sedan Series in addition to the season-long Super Sedan Association championship that is staged across Queensland and New South Wales.  Piloting a Pontiac Grand Prix resplendent in Lightning McQueen-inspired livery, Brims proved popular with race fans and was a model of consistency in both competitions

Few drivers sustain the level of consistency that Brims achieves on a weekly basis and for three consecutive seasons (2002/2003, 2003/2004 and 2004/2005) he finished inside the top three overall in the Super Sedan Association Championship Series.  In 2005/2006, Brims contested twelve rounds and finished inside the top six on eleven occasions.  During this remarkable run, Brims finished inside the top five on six occasions and made three appearances on the podium. Despite missing two rounds of the series, Brims finished fourth overall in the point standings.

The 2006/2007 season saw Brims rewarded for his commitment when he took out the SSA championship after another remarkably consistent run of results, downing many of Australia’s leading tin top exponents along the way. He also joined the NSSS for the first time last season and finished inside the top ten at six of the eight rounds, resulting in a sixth-place result in the championship.

In addition to his SSA and NSSS commitments, Brims also makes regular forays to other major events around the country, usually with considerable success.  For example, in his first ever visit to Sydney’s Parramatta City Raceway, Brims annexed third spot in the 2002/2003 Australian Super Sedan Championship. The 2004/2005 season saw Brims head to Gilgandra Speedway where he emerged triumphant in the New South Wales Super Sedan Championship.  The same year saw him selected as a member of the Australian team that took part in a series of Test Match events against a star-studded American squad.

Having proven himself as a genuine force in the category and established a remarkable record of consistency, commitment and accomplishment, Speedway Sedans Australia (ASCF) and the National Association of Speedway Racing (NASR) are very pleased to confirm Wayne Brims as a contracted driver in the 2007/2008 National Super Sedan Series.   Other drivers confirmed for the 2007/2008 series include Wayne Randall, Michael Gee, Brad Smith, Dave Gartner, Jamie McHugh, Paddy Ward, Darren Kane, Steve Jordan and Bill Miller with more to come.
